@Cassie: I agree with you on both points. I try and allow myself to meander at certain times during the day so it's not as much of a temptation when I need to be getting work done. For example, if I've got a call coming up in 10 minutes, there's not really enough time to get started on another new task, so I go cruise the Twitter stream for interesting articles/posts/etc. Then the phone rings and I'm back on task :). Sometimes it works and sometimes, well not so much :P

(That being said, I wouldn't have found your post if I stuck to my own guns... so, I guess we should also allow ourselves some "entertainment meandering" time online. But like television, we should watch how many hours a week we let ourselves surf the tubes.)

Great recap, Kristy, I'm glad you got a lot out of BarCamp and in particular this session (I know I did!). It was a pleasure meeting you.

One reflection I had upon this subject is that like anything else in life, if you want to succeed you must set goals and prioritize around them. "The web" is the perfect name for our online life - each strand connected to another, easy to get lost and stuck in. It's like shopping in a mall. If you don't know what you're going in for, you might not come out for a long time, meandering about. It's time to stop surfing and start accomplishing and then moving on to our real lives, while we still have them.
